emWave for the Mac

We do not yet have a Mac version of the emWave, however we do have plans to support the Mac in the future. When a Mac version can be developed and supported is contingent upon many things, none of which at this point can be predicted.

If you would like to be kept up-to-date on the developments of a Mac version of the emWave and be one of the first to know when a Mac version is available, please enter your e-mail address on the left side of this page and click subscribe. If you know of someone that would be interested in having a Mac version of the emWave, please tell them about this page and suggest to them that they subscribe. It's important to us to be able to quantify the interest for a Mac version. The number of Mac subscribers may be a factor in prioritising the development of this version.

You may have heard that some of our customers have been able to configure the emWave to work with the Virtual PC version 6--an application that emulates the Microsoft® Windows® environment under the Mac OSX operating system--and an IOGear USB PDA/Serial Adapter (GUC232A). Although some have found this arrangement sufficient for their needs, this configuration is not recommended due to numerous performance issues, potential incompatibilities and the possibility of not getting it to work at all.

Since we do not yet have a Mac version of the emWave and there are issues with running the emWave in an emulated environment, many people have purchased inexpensive used or refurbished laptops running Windows® 95, Windows® 98, Windows® ME, Windows® NT4 with Service Pack 4, Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP as a temporary solution while waiting for a Mac version of the emWave. If you decide to get a new laptop to run the emWave be sure to go to the emWave section of our website to view the minimum system requirements needed to run the emWave. One place that you can find good prices on laptops running Windows® that usually meet the minimum system requirements for the emWave is PlanITROI available on the web at:
http://www.planitroi.com/store/inventory/inventory.shtml

Once you have a laptop running Windows® you can go to our online store and purchase the emWave or give us a call at the listed number on our contact page. Please note that at this point we can not guarantee a special discount or price for those who purchase the current version of the emWave and wish to switch to a Mac version.
