SUE KOLVE'S SALON AND DAY SPA SERVICE PROVIDERS LEARN HOW STRESS REDUCTION, ANTI-AGING AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY ARE JUST A BREATH AWAY

ONALASKA -- Stress is a serious aging accelerator that impacts our overall health, vitality and quality of life.

In a one-day seminar presented by Ann Mincey, REDKEN vice president global communications, the service providers at Sue Kolve's Salon and Day Spa experienced a simple, but effective, method for minimising stress and increasing productivity.

Relentless exposure to daily, chronic anxiety is toxic and can wear down the immune system and increase the risk of everything from colds to debilitating diseases. Stress can damage neurons in the brain, cause memory problems, interfere with sexual performance, lead to heart attacks and even premature death.

Traditional methods for reducing stress only help to a point. The most advanced method for addressing stress today has emerged out of a decade-long pursuit to further understand the relationship between our emotions and the heart.

Pioneering this new understanding is the internationally recognised HeartMath® organisation. Their research shows that the heart is a natural and influential component of human intelligence and can help regulate stress levels.

With the HeartMath program you learn to make simple, yet powerful attitude adjustments in the moment as challenging situations arise. Research has shown that by accessing heartfelt emotions like care, appreciation you can neutralize toxic emotions like anxiety, frustration, irritation and anger.

Ms Mincey explains, "The process is very different from thinking positive thoughts or visualization because it is the actual experience of feeling care and appreciation which creates a lasting effect and can change the heart's rhythms."

To help teach the process Ms. Mincey uses an advanced personal technology called the Freeze-Framer®, which was developed by HeartMath. The staff at Kolve's learned how to make this shift by accessing the heartfelt emotions and using a heart focused breathing exercise.

Using a finger sensor attached to a laptop computer, employees hook themselves up to the software program. The program collects data from the user's heart and gives real-time feedback on how their body is handling stress.

The purpose is to learn to build a new internal reference of what it feels like when you are in-sync versus when you are out-of-sync – or feeling anxiety and other stressful emotions. With very little practice you can learn to make quick, in-the-moment shifts any time you feel anxiety starting to mount. The software also includes video games that you control by manipulating your own heart rate.

From this program, the staff at Kolve's learned how to improve their focus and creativity, elevate emotional clarity, lower stress and anxiety levels, strengthen immune systems, promote the body's optimal performance and slow the aging process.

Ms. Mincey, a certified HeartMath trainer, completed her training at the HeartMath Institute in Boulder Creek, California. Kolve's salon was selected as one of ten REDKEN Elite Salons throughout the United States to receive the training.

Ann Mincey commented on REDKEN's vision for all salon professionals and their salon guests, "We hope to help people to earn a better living AND live a better life. I believe this training presents the newest and most practical technology in the area of 'living better.' It's thrilling for REDKEN to be the first company in our industry to bring it to salons. It's a method easily transferred to salon guests as they relax, refresh and restore in the beauty of SUE KOLVE'S Salon and Day Spa."
